TBGS have today published a report from research commissioned to investigate the performance of different groups of children in the Secondary Transfer Tests (STT) used for entry to Buckinghamshire grammar schools in 2019 and 2020. The research questions were:
Is there any statistically significant evidence from the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Tests used for 2019 and 2020 entry of differential performance between groups and, if so, is it reflective of other exams and assessments?
If there is any evidence, what changes should be made to the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test?
While some differences were found between the performance of particular groups the STT was found to be functioning closely in line with national KS2 assessments. As a result no changes are proposed to the Test. A full copy of the report including the findings can be found here.
